Town of Milo, NY Article I General Requirements

§ 20-1 Title; scope; authority; purpose.

A. Title. This chapter shall be known as the "Defense and Indemnification Law of the Town of Milo," hereinafter referred to as "this chapter."

B. Applicability. The provisions of this chapter shall apply to all actions and proceedings specified herein which have been commenced, instituted or brought on or after the effective date of this chapter.

C. Authority and intent. This chapter is adopted pursuant to the provisions of § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York and is intended to qualify as a local law:

(1) Conferring the benefits of § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York upon the Town's employees; and

(2) Agreeing to be held liable for the costs incurred under the provisions of § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of New York.
