[Ord. 3-2009, 3/12/2009, § 1]
It is and it shall be the duty of each and every owner, trustee,
lessee, agent, occupant, and possessor of each and every house, building,
or other structure located in Canton Township, whether on a public
or private street or road, to cause the same to be numbered with its
official building number assigned by Canton Township. The number shall
be permanently posted as set forth herein. All persons required to
number existing houses, buildings, or other structures shall contact
Canton Township and secure an assigned building number and official
street or road name.
[Ord. 3-2009, 3/12/2009, § 2; amended at time of

The building number shall be placed in a conspicuous place on

or front show window, over or on either side of the entrance, or on
a clearly visible mailbox, fence, post, mount, or other similar structure
located upon the subject property. The number shall be of paint, metal,
enamel, or vinyl, and the color of the number shall be in contrast
to the immediate background. The number shall be Arabic numerals or
alphabet letters, a minimum of four inches high, with a minimum stroke

leaves, tree branches, or other such impediments shall not impair
the visibility required by this Part.
[Ord. 3-2009, 3/12/2009, § 3]
It shall be unlawful to cover any building number with any sign,
drapery, or other obstruction tending to conceal such number, and
all inaccurate, obsolete, or non-conforming numbers shall be removed
from any house, building, or other structure when a new number has
been assigned, or when so directed by the Canton Township Zoning Officer.
[Ord. 3-2009, 3/12/2009, § 4]
All persons required to number buildings, as set forth herein,
shall number existing houses, buildings, or structures within 60 days
of the effective date of this Part. The owners of new structures shall

of the normal building permit process. New structures shall be numbered
within 30 days after completion of the structure.

adoption of Code]
Publicly designated but privately maintained streets or roads within Canton Township shall be marked with street sign(s) in accordance with Section
