[HISTORY: Adopted by the Township Council of the Township of Denville 4-17-1946 (Ch. 4, Sec. 4-8, of the 1978 Revised General Ordinances). Amendments noted where applicable.]
No person shall conduct, either as owner, manager, agent or employee, any public dance hall within the Township without first having obtained a license therefor, which license may be granted upon the terms and conditions as herein set forth.

PUBLIC DANCE HALL
Any place where public dancing is conducted, whether a fee is charged or not, and whether the place shall be enclosed or shall be in a tent or on an open platform;, provided, however, charitable organizations, religious organizations and private clubs, wherein only the members and guests thereof are admitted, shall not be construed as public dancing or conducting of a public dance hall.
A license to conduct a public dance hall may be granted by the Township Council upon the payment of the license fee, and upon written application made, setting forth the owner's name, residence and the location of the public dance hall and accompanied by the fees as hereinafter designated. Licenses issued hereunder shall be renewed annually and, prior to renewal thereof, the licensed premises shall be inspected by the Building Inspector and by the Fire Marshal, who shall issue their written reports to the Township Council. Any unsafe conditions found by the Building Inspector or the Fire Marshal shall be corrected in a satisfactory manner before a license hereunder shall be renewed. Applications for license renewal shall be received by the Township Clerk on and after December 1 annually and licenses shall be issued only upon resolution of the Township Council and only upon receipt of the annual license fee thereof.

The term for which the license shall be granted is one year commencing January 1 and ending December 31.

The license fee is set forth in Chapter 245, Fees, Rates and Charges, and is payable when application is made.
No person shall conduct a public dance between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. prevailing time.
No public dance hall shall be conducted in a noisy, obnoxious or immoral manner and no cursing, swearing or disorderly conduct shall be allowed upon the licensed premises.
