[HISTORY: Adopted by the Borough Council of the Borough of Catawissa 7-16-1973 by Ord. No. 218 (Ch. 1, Part 2A, of the 1983 Code of Ordinances). Amendments noted where applicable.]
Pursuant to the provisions contained in the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, 1968, P.L. 805 (53 P.S. § 10101 et seq.), Act 247, as amended, and in order to carry the said provisions into effect, there is hereby created in the Borough a Planning Commission which shall have all the powers and duties conferred upon it by said Act and any other powers vested in it by law or ordinance.
The Borough Planning Commission shall consist of five members who are residents of Catawissa, who shall serve without compensation, except that they shall be reimbursed for expenses incurred in carrying out their Commission duties.
The terms of the members of said Planning Commission shall be for four years each, except that the terms of the members first appointed shall be so fixed that two members shall be appointed for one year, one member shall be appointed for two years, one member shall be appointed for three years, and one member shall be appointed for four years; and annually thereafter, a member or members of said Planning Commission shall be appointed for a term of four years.
The Borough Planning Commission shall make an annual written report of its activities to the Borough Council. It may employ planning technicians and/or persons whose salaries and wages together with other necessary expenses of the Commission shall be provided for, at the discretion of the Borough Council, by proper appropriation and resolutions. The Commission may also receive and expend, for the purposes of its planning work, any gifts, grants and appropriation of money from any other source, including commonwealth, federal or local funds, and may contract with governmental or private agencies or individuals with respect thereto.[1]

The Planning Commission shall have the power to provide all services and functions set forth under Article II, Section 209.1, of Act 247, as amended,[1] when requested by the governing body.[2]
