As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the
following meanings:
ROADWAY
That portion of the highway designed or ordinarily used for
vehicular travel, including sidewalks.
SELF-PROPELLED RECREATIONAL DEVICE
Any wheeled vehicle that is self-propelled either by human
power or by motor, including, but not limited to, skateboards, tricycles,
unicycles, any type of scooters, roller skates, or Rollerblades, but
excluding therefrom bicycles and electric personal assistive mobility
devices (EPAMD). Devices such as wagons or baby carriages, which are
propelled by means external to the device, shall not be considered
a self-propelled recreational device under this chapter.
SIDEWALK
That portion of the highway designated or ordinarily used
for pedestrian travel.
No person shall operate a self-propelled recreational device
on any roadway or public alley in the Borough of Catawissa in violation
of any traffic ordinances of the Borough of Catawissa or the laws
and statutes of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Every person violating the provisions of this chapter shall,
upon conviction thereof before the Magisterial District Judge, pay
a fine of not less than $5 nor more than $25, plus court costs, and
shall be ordered to pay restitution should any damage or injury have
resulted from the act giving rise to the violation of this chapter.
In default of payment of the same, every person shall be sentenced
to one hour of community service in the Borough of Catawissa for each
$5 imposed by the Magisterial District Judge.
