City of Washington, PA Article VI Health Insurance Benefit for Family Members of Police Officers/Firefighters Killed in Line of Duty

§ 49-54 Definitions.

As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:

CHILD(REN)

The lawful minor child of the police officer/firefighter under the age of 18.

WIDOW or WIDOWER

The woman or man that the police officer/firefighter was married to at the time of death.

§ 49-55 Insurance coverage — spouse.

If a City of Washington police officer or City of Washington firefighter would be killed in the line of duty, the City of Washington would continue to provide, at no cost, employee health insurance to the widow or widower until the time that they would remarry, decline coverage, or are eligible for Medicare benefits.

§ 49-56 Insurance coverage — child.

If a City of Washington police officer or City of Washington firefighter would be killed in the line of duty, the City of Washington would continue to provide, at no cost, employee health insurance to the child of the fallen officer or firefighter.
