GENERAL REFERENCES
Beach and dune protection — See Ch. 101.
Beaches and recreational facilities — See Ch. 105.
The Brigantine Beach Committee (hereinafter the "Beach Committee") be and is hereby established as an advisory committee to the City Council.
The general purpose for the Beach Committee shall include but not be limited to:
A. 
Advising City Council in regard to maintenance and operation of the beaches in the City of Brigantine.
B. 
Encouraging the City's staff to pursue practices to maintain the environmental and recreational values and goals of the City beaches.
C. 
Work with the existing groups within the City whose actions affect environmental and recreational issues impacting the City beaches so as to eliminate duplication and assure that important tasks are covered.
D. 
Provide input for the City of Brigantine website.
E. 
Provide suggestions for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of City beaches to the City Council.
A. 
The Brigantine City Council shall appoint nine City residents to serve as the Beach Committee with at least one member being a member of the City Council. The Beach Committee shall appoint a Chair of the Beach Committee. The Beach Committee shall elect from among its members a Vice Chair and a Secretary/Treasurer. In addition to the members referred to herein, the Beach Committee shall also include ex officio members, including the City Manager, the Director of Public Works, the Chief of Police, the Chief of the Fire Department, the Chief of the Beach Patrol, and such other City employees as the Manager may, from time to time, designate. Each of the ex officio members may name a designee of his or her respective Department to serve in the absence of the designated ex officio member.
B. 
Beach Committee members shall serve a one-year term. The initial nine members of the Beach Committee members from the date of appointment until December 31, 2017. Thereafter, the Beach Committee appointments shall be made at the time of the Reorganization Meeting of City Government in the City of Brigantine.
C. 
The Beach Committee shall recruit City volunteers to work on Beach Committee projects. The names of volunteers shall periodically be submitted to the City Manager.
Meetings of the Beach Committee may be scheduled by the Chair at his/her discretion.
