This chapter shall be known as the "Village of Westfield Fire Department Law."
A. 
Whenever used in this chapter, words in the singular include the plural and vice versa.
B. 
As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
COUNCIL OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Chief, the Assistant, and the wardens of the several companies of the Fire Department of the Village of Westfield.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Fire Department of the Village of Westfield.
A. 
The Council of the Fire Department shall appoint a Treasurer at its annual meeting, who shall serve for one year unless sooner removed by the Council. Any member of the Fire Department in good standing shall be eligible to be appointed Treasurer.
B. 
This subsection is intended to supersede § 10-1014 of the New York's Village Law, which requires that the Council of the Fire Department appoint a Treasurer "from its own number." The said law shall otherwise apply to the Fire Department in all respects, unless superseded by a later local law.
