It shall be the policy of the Village to promptly and fairly
adjust the grievances of its employees. Within the framework of existing
laws and regulations, every effort shall be made to adjust grievances
in a manner mutually satisfactory to all involved. An employee who
believes that he has received inequitable treatment because of some
condition of his employment may appeal for relief from that condition
through the following supervisory channels:
A.Â
An employee shall first discuss any grievance with his department
supervisor/Mayor or committee chairman.
B.Â
Should there be no adjustment made between the employee and his department
supervisor or committee chairman, they shall discuss the grievance
with the Mayor.
C.Â
If, after proceeding through the above channels, there is no satisfactory
settlement of the grievance, the employee shall reduce the grievance
to writing and shall submit copies of it to the Village Board, the
Mayor, the Village Clerk, and the department supervisor. The Board
shall hold a meeting at a time mutually agreed upon between the Board
and the individual so as not to interfere with the operations of the
Village. The decision of the Board regarding the grievance shall be
final.
