[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Mercer County as Ch. 2.37 of the 2003 Mercer County Code (Ord. No. 82-35). Amendments noted where applicable.]
[Pursuant to P.L. 2020, c. 67, effective 1-1-2021, the Code of Mercer County has been amended to delete the term “Board of Chosen Freeholders” and replace it with the term “Board of County Commissioners.” In addition, the terms “Freeholder” and “Chosen Freeholder” have been deleted and replaced by the term “County Commissioner.”]
There shall be created in Mercer County, New Jersey, a Mercer County Advisory Council on Special Transportation.
The Advisory Council on Special Transportation shall perform the following functions:
A. 
To serve in an advisory capacity to the governing body of Mercer County and the Mercer County Director of Special Transportation with respect to the organization and delivery of special transportation services in Mercer County;
B. 
To assist the Mercer County Director of Special Transportation in the development of a comprehensive specialized transportation services plan for Mercer County;
C. 
To provide an opportunity and forum for professionals, providers, public officials, citizens and consumers to work together to improve the network of specialized transportation services in Mercer County.
The Mercer County Advisory Council on Special Transportation shall consist of 15 members, appointed by the County Executive with the advice and consent of the Board of County Commissioners. Members shall serve for one-year terms or until the appointment and qualification of their successors. However:
A. 
Eleven voting members:
(1) 
Two participants of Nutrition Project;
(2) 
Two Title XX eligible residents;
(3) 
Two wheelchair-dependent County residents;
(4) 
One blind County resident;
(5) 
Four concerned citizens, to include parents of disabled County residents.
B. 
Four nonvoting ex officio members:
(1) 
The Director of T.R.A.D.E.;
(2) 
One DYFS representative;
(3) 
One vocational rehabilitation representative;
(4) 
One DOT representative.
