[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Ventnor City 6-28-2018 by Ord. No. 2018-25. Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby created an advisory board to be known as the "Ventnor Ad Hoc Committee." It is expected the Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee may provide recommendations and ideas, make suggestions, and bring issues or information to the attention of City government. It is expected the Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee may focus on various areas and operations of City government, including but not limited to finance and budget, public works, public safety, economic development, code and construction, and recreation, as an example. The Committee is advisory in nature and cannot take any action which will bind the City.

The board shall consist of a minimum of 10 members to a maximum of 15 members plus a rotating Commissioner and shall be appointed by the City Commissioners of the City of Ventnor City.
A. 
Each member of the Committee shall serve for one year to commence on the first day of January of the year of appointment. The first-year term shall run through December 31, 2019.
B. 
It is expected the Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee will meet, at a minimum, monthly, with meetings to be held at 6201 Atlantic Avenue, Ventnor, NJ, on the same day of the week each month as defined by the Committee Chairperson.
C. 
The Committee meeting shall be subject to the provisions of the Open Public Meetings Act pursuant to N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et seq.
No member of the Committee shall receive any payment or compensation for serving on said Committee.
The Committee shall have the following powers in order to advise the City of Ventnor City:
A. 
Where as a member of the Committee selected by the Committee shall serve as Chairperson of the City of Ventnor Ad Hoc Advisory Committee.

B. 
Whereas the Chairperson shall set an agenda to the extent known, and it shall be circulated at least two days prior to the next meeting, but the Committee shall have the right to take up such additional agenda items as a majority in attendance shall advance for consideration.
C. 
Whereas a secretary shall be appointed from the Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee to keep record of matters discussed in the form of minutes.
D. 
Whereas the City of Ventnor Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee may make intermittent presentations to the governing body at a regular public meeting workshop and shall file a preliminary report by the end of the year, reflecting the results of its deliberations and setting forth any recommendations which are being made to the governing body of the City of Ventnor.
E. 
Whereas certain City officials and/or department heads may be assigned to advise the City of Ventnor Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee and to attend meetings when required to assist in the consideration of agenda items pertaining to area of interest or expertise.
F. 
Whereas any appointed Ad Hoc Citizen Advisory Committee member may be removed for cause at the recommendation of the Committee Chair.
G. 
Whereas nonvoting member or members may be appointed if so desired by the City Commissioners.

H. 
Members appointed to the Committee must be a full-time or part-time resident.

Nothing in this chapter shall restrict the City Commissioners of the City of Ventnor City from dissolving the advisory committee. The City Commissioner of the City of Ventnor City may dissolve the Committee at any time they see necessary.
