Article I Temporary Heaters on Construction Sites

§ 148-1 Definitions.

As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:

CONSTRUCTION SITE

Any location on which a building of any type, residential, commercial industrial, etc., is being built, renovated, modified or otherwise changed, designed or redesigned.

LIQUID-FUELED PORTABLE OR TEMPORARY HEATER

Shall include but not be limited to torpedo furnaces, salamander furnaces, salamanders and any other flame-producing heater.

§ 148-2 Prohibited acts.

It shall be unlawful for any person, party, company or entity to use a liquid-fueled portable or temporary heater inside any building on construction sites within the Township of Maplewood.

§ 148-3 Permitted heaters.

Subject to approval of the Maplewood Fire Department, electric-powered or temporary heaters may be used inside any building on construction sites within the Township of Maplewood.

§ 148-4 Violations and penalties.

A. Any person, party, company or entity violating the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to the following fines:

(1) First offense: $1,000.

(2) Second offense: $1,500.

(3) Third or subsequent offense: $2,000.

B. Each separate liquid-fueled portable or temporary heater in use shall be considered a separate violation.
