[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Supervisors of the Township of Polk 4-1-1974 by Ord. No. 109. Amendments noted where applicable.]
There is hereby created and established a Township Planning Commission of the Township of Polk. Said Commission shall consist of five members, all of whom shall be residents of the Township. Subject to the provisions of § 49-2 hereof, the term of office of each member of the Commission shall be for four years or until his successor is appointed or qualified.

A. 
Following the effective date of this chapter, the Supervisor shall promptly appoint the initial members of the Commission; one such member shall be appointed for a term of one year; one such member shall be appointed for a term of two years; one such member shall be appointed for a term of three years; and two such members shall be appointed for a term of four years; annually thereafter, members of the Commission shall be reappointed or replaced for a term of four years.
B. 
At the option of the Supervisors, any appointed member of the Polk Township Planning Commission may be removed if that individual fails to attend less than 75% of the regularly scheduled meetings of the Polk Township Planning Commission in any calendar year.
The Supervisors shall, from time to time, make such appropriations as they may see fit for the purpose of enabling the Planning Commission to carry out its powers and duties. The members of the Commission shall serve without compensation.
All meetings of the Planning Commission shall be open to the public.
The Planning Commission shall perform such duties and functions as are provided by the Acts of Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and shall be governed thereby.[1]
