The office of Building Official is hereby created.

A. 
The Director of Public Safety shall designate a member of the Department of Public Safety to serve as Building Official for the City and may designate such deputy or deputies as may be necessary to perform such duties.
B. 
The Building Official shall not have any interest whatever, directly or indirectly, in the sale or manufacture of any material, process or device entering into or used in or in connection with building construction, alterations, removal and demolition.

The Building Official shall perform all duties as required by this Code and such other duties as from time to time may be required by the City Council.

The Building Official, in the discharge of any official duties and upon compliance with any applicable provision of law, and upon proper identification, shall have authority to enter any building, structure or premises at any reasonable hour.

The Building Official may request and shall receive so far as may be necessary, in the discharge of official duties, the assistance and cooperation of other Officers of the City.
