There is hereby levied and the City Collector shall collect a license tax upon every dog or bitch in the City of Marceline in the amount of six dollars ($6.00).

On or before the first day of January of each year, any person who shall own, harbor, care for or feed any dog, male or female, within the City of Marceline shall procure from said City a dog license for such animal. The license hereby required shall be issued for the calendar year ending December 31 of each year. Licenses for the succeeding year will be placed on sale beginning December 1 of each year.

On or before the first day of January of each year, any person obtaining a license for any dog shall have such dog vaccinated for the prevention of rabies by a person designated or approved by the City Manager of said City.

No official or employee of said City should issue a dog license as herein provided until the applicant therefor shall produce satisfactory evidence that the dog for which the license is issued has been vaccinated as herein required. This Section does not apply to animals less than six (6) months of age.

The City Collector shall keep a record of all licenses as herein issued and shall record the number of such license, the name of the person procuring the same and the description of the dog for which the license is issued.

A dog license as herein required shall be attached to the dog for which such license is issued and shall not be transferable to any other animal, and any dog found within the City limits of the City without such license shall be subject to destruction as hereinbefore prescribed.
