[Adopted 8-28-2000 by L.L. No. 5-2000]
The Town Board of the Town of Wilna, pursuant to the authority
granted under the Municipal Home Rule Law of the State of New York,
hereby enacts as follows.
The Town Board of the Town of Wilna finds that certain key elective
positions within the Town, such as the Town Clerk, would benefit from
a longer term of office so as to provide greater continuity for the
Town. This position requires a greater amount of skill and knowledge
than other elective offices of the Town and, therefore, there is a
greater need for a longer term. It is the purpose of this article
to expand the term of office for Town Clerk from two years to four
years.
The Town Board of the Town of Wilna hereby states that henceforth
the term of office for Town Clerk shall be four years.
If any part of this article shall be found to be void, voidable,
or unenforceable for any reason whatsoever, it shall not affect the
validity or enforceability of any remaining section or provision of
this article.
This article shall become effective only if passed by the affirmative
vote of a majority of voters voting at the next general Town election.
