A. 
Composition and term of appointment: There shall be an Americans with Disabilities Committee which shall be composed of five members serving three-year terms appointed by the Town Manager and ratified by the Select Board. The majority of members shall consist of people with disabilities or may be a member of the immediate family of a person with a disability. One shall be a representative of the Select Board, or their designee and shall be initially appointed for a one-year term, one shall be the Building Commissioner or Local Inspector initially appointed for a three-year term, and three at-large members initially appointed for staggered terms of one, two and three years respectively. After the initial term, all members shall serve three-year terms. Any vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as an original appointment.

B. 
Voting power: All duly appointed members shall have full voting rights.
C. 
Resignation: Members of the Committee shall notify the Chairperson and Select Board in writing of their resignation.

D. 
Vacancies: Any vacancies shall be filled in the same manner as an original appointment.
E. 
Representations: Members shall get approval of the Committee prior to making statements, presentations or joining activities on behalf of the Committee.

It shall be the responsibility of the Americans with Disabilities Committee to make recommendations to the Town that enables compliance with the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992 and will hold additional duties as charged by the Select Board.
A. 
The Committee will meet at least six times a year.
B. 
A quorum shall consist of three members.
C. 
Special meetings can be called by the Chairperson or by a quorum of the Committee.
D. 
An organizational meeting will be held at the first meeting after the start of a new fiscal year.
E. 
Meetings shall adhere to Robert's Rule of Order.

A. 
The Committee shall elect a chairperson, vice-chairperson, and clerk.
B. 
Officers shall be elected annually by a majority vote of the Committee.
C. 
Duties:
(1) 
The Chair or his/her designee shall provide the agendas for meetings, preside at meeting and orient new members. The Chair or his/her designee shall provide all Committee members a copy of the Open Meeting Law as required by state statute.
(2) 
The Vice-Chairperson shall perform all the functions of the chairperson in his/her absence.
(3) 
The Clerk shall take the meeting minutes, post notices of upcoming meetings and provide minutes to Committee members. He/she shall post the meeting agenda in accordance with the Massachusetts Open Meetings Law and all other applicable Town bylaws.
