The Climate Adaptation Committee will seek options to make Kittery
more resilient in the face of risks associated with warming temperatures
and rising seas.
The Committee may:
A.
Make recommendations for ordinances, policies, projects and objectives
to address actions to make Town properties safer and more energy efficient;
B.
Establish and coordinate the work of three subcommittees: Built and
Natural Landscape Impacts; Energy Efficiency; and Public Health and
Safety.
C.
Collaborate with surrounding communities and the state on climate
adaptation matters.
D.
Provide a report one year after its forming, and every five years
thereafter, to the Town Council on progress and accomplishments.
The Committee consists of two Town Councilors, one representative
from each of the following: Planning Board, Conservation Commission,
Economic Development Committee, Parks Commission, and School Committee;
five citizen members, two local business owners of which one must
be from the fishing industry, and the Town Manager or designee. The
Committee may request the municipal officers appoint additional members
as needed. Citizen and business-representative members are appointed
for three-year terms.
