There is hereby created and established in the Township of Winslow the position of Tax Assessor, who shall have all the qualifications as required by law. The Tax Assessor shall, prior to his/her appointment, be qualified by training and experience in municipal taxation and the valuation and assessment of property for purposes of ad valorem taxation.
The Tax Assessor shall be appointed by resolution of the governing body and shall, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-148, serve for a term of four (4) years from the first day of July next following his/her appointment. Vacancies other than due to expiration of term shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.
The Township Tax Assessor shall perform all duties as required by the applicable statutes of the State of New Jersey and regulations of appropriate officials of the State of New Jersey and the County of Camden. The Township Tax Assessor shall also perform such duties as may from time to time be designated by the governing body by resolution, and shall include the following functions:
A. 
Value all real and personal property in the Township for the purposes of assessment and taxation in accordance with general law, and exercise all the powers of a Municipal Assessor pursuant to law.
B. 
Prepare the tax list and duplicate as required by law, and maintain adequate assessment records of each and every parcel of real property assessed or exempted;
C. 
Have custody of and maintain an up-to-date Township Tax Map and provide for the recording thereon of all changes in ownership or character of the property;
D. 
Make all appraisals of property for any municipal purpose.
E. 
Supervise employees within his/her office.
The governing body of the Township of Winslow may by resolution appoint, from time to time, Assistant Tax Assessors and clerical personnel to assist the Township Tax Assessor in such manner as the governing body may determine.
The Tax Assessor shall be paid a salary fixed and adopted by the governing body in the annual salary ordinance.

There is hereby created and established in the Township of Winslow the office of Deputy Tax Assessor. Any person appointed to the office of Deputy Tax Assessor shall have all the training and qualifications as required by law and shall hold a Tax Assessor Certificate.

The Deputy Tax Assessor shall be appointed by resolution of the Governing Body and shall, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-148, serve for a term of four (4) years from the first day of July next following his/her appointment. The Deputy Tax Assessor shall have all the powers and perform all the duties of the Tax Assessor and shall act under the direct supervision of and shall assist the Tax Assessor.

The Deputy Tax Assessor shall be paid a salary fixed and adopted by the Mayor and Township Committee in the annual salary ordinance.
