It is the purpose of this ordinance to prohibit the discharge
of firearms in an area of the township which is developed to the point
that any such action is a danger to the health, safety and welfare
of those residing in the area.

It shall be unlawful for anyone to discharge any firearms within
Barnegat Township, north of Bayview Boulevard and east of Ridgeway
Street. (Signs shall be posted from the southern end of Bayview Boulevard
to the pavilion at the Public Dock.) This ordinance in no way abrogates
state statutes applying to the discharge of firearms nor the licensing
thereof.
In the event that any provision of this ordinance shall be found
to be invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining
provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
Any person, firm or corporation who shall violate any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished by
a fine of not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.) or by imprisonment
in the county jail for a period of not to exceed ninety (90) days,
or by both such fine and imprisonment, and each violation of any of
the provisions of this ordinance and each day the same is violated
shall be deemed and taken to be a separate and distinct offense.
This ordinance repeals any inconsistent ordinance or ordinances,
or part or parts thereof.
This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final
passage and publication as required by law.
