[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Commissioners (now the Council) of the City of Perth Amboy 10-6-70 as Ord. No. C-870. Amendments noted where applicable.]
The Board of Education of the City of Perth Amboy shall be increased in number from five (5) members to seven (7) members pursuant to N.J.S.A. 18A:12-6.
The terms of the present members of the Board of Education shall terminate upon final adoption of this chapter.
The Mayor of the City of Perth Amboy shall forthwith appoint seven (7) qualified persons to serve as members of the Board of Education.
A. 
The members of the first Board of Education appointed pursuant to this chapter, five (5) of whom shall be the present members of the Board of Education, shall serve for the following terms as designated by the Mayor:
(1) 
Three (3) members for a term expiring March 1, 1971.
(2) 
Two (2) members for a term expiring March 1, 1972.
(3) 
Two (2) members for a term expiring March 1, 1973.
B. 
Upon the expiration of each of the above terms of members of the Board of Education, the Mayor shall reappoint or appoint their successors in office for terms of three (3) years in accordance with N.J.S.A. 18A:12-9.
