[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Commissioners (now the
Council) of the City of Perth Amboy 12-30-42 as Ord.
No. C-303. Sections 38-2, 38-3 and 38-4 amended
at time of adoption of Code; see Ch. 1, General Provisions. Other
amendments noted where applicable.]
The matters and duties now coming under the jurisdiction of
the City Electrician are hereby transferred to the Electrical Bureau
of the City of Perth Amboy, which is hereby established.
There shall be appointed as head of the Bureau a Supervisor,
Electrical Bureau.
The duties of the Supervisor, Electrical Bureau shall be as
follows:
A.Â
To inspect and supervise all the electrical installations within
the limits of the City of Perth Amboy.
B.Â
To inspect and supervise all the electrical installations and equipment
in all municipal buildings; to examine plans and specifications and
pass upon same before contracts are awarded and make a careful inspection
during the progress of work under contract and see that the specifications
are rigidly enforced and complied with. Any department of the city
government planning to construct or wire any building or install any
electrical equipment therein shall first submit plans and specifications
calling for such electrical construction to the Bureau for approval.
C.Â
To superintend and have entire control and charge of the traffic
control equipment; to maintain and supervise the entire police telephone
and recall systems; to maintain and supervise the entire fire alarm
system, subject to such rules as may be made from time to time.
D.Â
To make such rules and regulations for the installation of electrical
equipment of any kind or nature as he deems fair and equitable and
in accordance with public safety. All rules and regulations heretofore
made by the Chief of the Electrical Bureau in his capacity as City
Electrician are hereby ratified. The Supervisor, Electrical Bureau
shall have the power and authority to make such further rules and
regulations as he may deem necessary.
The Supervisor, Electrical Bureau shall devote his whole time
to the duties of his office and shall receive as compensation for
his services such amount as shall be fixed from time to time in the
Salary Ordinance, payable in the same manner as other salaries are
paid by the City of Perth Amboy.[2]
