Borough of Mount Arlington, NJ Chapter 15 Checks, Fraudulent

§ 15-1 Service fee.

There is hereby imposed a service fee of $20 upon the accounts for any check which is submitted in payment to the borough, which is returned to the borough for nonpayment for the reason of insufficient funds.

§ 15-2 Charge to constitute lien.

Whenever an account owing to a municipality is for a tax, assessment or some other municipal service, the service charge authorized by this chapter shall be included on whichever list of delinquent accounts is prepared for the enforcement of the lien.

§ 15-3 Collection of service charge.

Any service charge authorized by this chapter shall be collected in the same manner prescribed by law for the collection of the account for which the check or other written instrument was tendered.

§ 15-4 Requirement for cash, bank and certified checks.

Any account for which the borough receives checks which are returned for insufficient funds on two occasions shall be required, for a two year period thereafter, to be paid by cash, bank or certified check.
