There is hereby established a Code of Ethics to regulate the conduct and activities of the officials and employees of the Township.

a. 
It is the purpose of this section to implement the provisions of the Local Government Ethics Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:9-22.1 et seq., and to expand certain ethical prohibitions.
b. 
This section is enacted under the authority of the Local Government Ethics Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:9-22.1 et seq. and under the further authority granted to the Township under the provisions of Title 40 and Title 40A of the New Jersey Statutes.

a. 
The definitions established in the Local Government Ethics Law shall control.
b. 
For the purpose of this section:
OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE
Shall mean an officer or employee of the Township or of any agency under the authority of or appointed by the Township; in addition, subsection 2-60.4 shall also apply to anyone who has executed a written confidentiality agreement with the Township.

In addition to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-22.5, officers and employees of the Township shall comply with the following additional ethical standard provision.
No officer or employee shall, without proper legal authorization therefor, disclose any confidential information concerning the property, government, personnel or affairs of the Township; nor shall be or she use such confidential information to advance the financial or other private interests of himself/herself or others.

Any person, firm or corporation found guilty of a violation of the terms of this section in addition to any penalties provided by statute, shall be subject to the penalty stated in Chapter 1, Section 1-5.
