No person shall have in his possession a loaded firearm within
450 feet of any property boundary containing an occupied building,
school, playground or park situated in the Township of West Deptford,
County of Gloucester, except as otherwise provided and permitted in
this chapter.
It shall be unlawful for any person to fire or discharge any
shotgun, rifle, pistol, or any other kind of firearm whereby any shot,
bullet, or missile is shot or scattered within the confines of the
Township of West Deptford, except as follows:
A.
During the regular hunting season, hunting for game will be permitted; provided, however, the hunter must be in compliance with all applicable hunting laws of the State of New Jersey and the 450 feet limit, as provided for in § 92-1 hereof.
B.
At a hunting/firearms range approved by the Township Committee after
all approvals have been obtained from appropriate federal and state
authorities.
C.
Prohibitions in this chapter shall not apply to any law enforcement
officer acting within the scope of his authority and duties, to any
government employee authorized or required by his employment or office
to carry or use firearms in the State of New Jersey, to any person
having a valid permit issued to him by lawful authority to carry or
use firearms in the State of New Jersey.
For the purposes of this chapter, the following term shall have
the meaning indicated:
Any pistol, revolver, gun, rifle, cannon, artillery piece
or other ordinance, including any miniature weapon which acts by force
of gunpowder or other explosive, including any instrument or device
designed to propel any projectile by the use of spring or compressed
air propulsion.

Any person who violates the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be subject to the penalty in § 1-15, Violations and penalties, of the Code of the Township of West Deptford.
