There is hereby created the office of Building Official. Appointment to the office of Building Official shall be made by the Mayor and approved of by the Board of Commissioners. He shall be a competent individual, who shall have not less than five years of practical experience in construction work. The compensation of the Building Official shall be established by the Board of Commissioners.

The Building Official is hereby instructed and empowered to enforce the ordinances and regulations relating to building, and to supervise the construction, reconstruction, alteration or moving of all buildings and other structures in the city. The Building Official or his assistants shall have the right to enter any premises at all reasonable hours and shall have the authority to call upon the Police Department when necessary to assist in the enforcement of the provisions of this Code.

The Building Official of the city shall have the powers, duties, and functions prescribed for the "Building Official" by the BOCA Building Code adopted by this Code, provided that the powers, duties and functions may be performed by authorized representatives of the Building Official and under his supervision and control.

The Building Official shall have the power to stop the construction of any building or structure or any part thereof or the making of alterations, additions, or repairs to the same within the City of Weatherford when the same is being done in violation of any of the provisions of the building code and/or other codes of the City of Weatherford.

The Building Official of the city is authorized to give notice to persons violating provisions of the code which he is authorized to enforce by delivering citation tags to violators.
Such citation tags, among other things, shall indicate briefly the charge, and shall direct the violator to present the tag at the City of Weatherford Municipal Court within five days or such other time as may be specified thereon. Failure to comply with a citation tag given to such person shall authorize the Building Official to have a complaint entered against such person before the Municipal Judge, and the Municipal Judge shall issue a warrant for the arrest of such person.
