There shall be a Department of Law, the head of which is the City Attorney appointed by the Commission for an indefinite term, and removable by the Commission. The City Attorney is an officer of the city, and has supervision and control of the Department of Law.
The City Attorney shall be an active member in good standing of the Oklahoma Bar Association and must be a resident of the city.
The City Attorney shall advise the Board of Commissioners and all other officers of the city upon legal questions affecting the duties of their offices or the interests of the city as may be referred to him. He shall appear and prosecute any person charged with the violation of any ordinance of the city on trial before the Municipal Court. He shall represent the city in all actions or proceedings in all courts wherein the city is a party or may be interested, and shall perform such other professional services as may be required of him by law or by the City Commission.
