1. 
No person or any owner, agent, employee or driver shall operate or permit to be operated a motor vehicle as a taxicab unless the proper city license has been issued to the owner thereof.
2. 
The owner of each and every taxicab, automobile, or other motor vehicle which is to be used in the transportation of passengers for hire within the City of Weatherford, prior to the issuance of a license by the City Clerk, or his designated agent, shall pay to the City Clerk an annual fee which shall be set by resolution of the City Commission.
3. 
The license fee required by this section shall be in addition to any tax or fee required by the laws of the State of Oklahoma. No refund shall be made for any reason; no license shall be issued for an amount less than the entire annual fee; and no license shall be transferable from one vehicle to another except on the proper application and approval of the City Clerk.

Before any license is issued for a taxicab, automobile, or other vehicle engaged in the transportation of passengers for hire within the city, the owner or operator thereof shall file with the City Clerk, or his designated agent, an insurance policy as outlined in Title 47 Chapter 8 Section 8104 et seq. of the Oklahoma State Statutes.

Every firm, person, or corporation owning and/or operating a taxicab or other such vehicle under license from the City of Weatherford shall identify each and every such vehicle by a distinct color scheme or other method of painting or lettering which shall include the name of the owner or the trade name under which he is operating, in letters not less than five inches in height, and the telephone number from which the same is operating. The color scheme of all taxicabs or other vehicles operated by the same concern shall be of similar design.

Application for a license to operate a taxicab shall be submitted in writing to the Weatherford Police Department, verified by the applicant or his duly authorized agent and filed with the City Clerk, or his designated agent. All cost incurred in the process shall be paid by the applicant. The application shall state the following:
1. 
The name of the applicant; if a partnership, the name and address of each partner, and if a corporation, the name and address of all officers and directors thereof;
2. 
The address of the principal place of business of each applicant;
3. 
The trade name under which the business will be conducted;
4. 
The experience, if any, the applicant has had in such business;
5. 
The number of taxicabs the applicant desires to operate;
6. 
The seating capacity of each taxicab according to the manufacturer's rating; the type or styles of the vehicles to be used.

Upon notice from the Weatherford Police Department for a violation of any of the following, shall result in the revocation of said license by the City Clerk or his designee:
1. 
When any statement in, or attached, to any application filed hereunder is shown to be false;
2. 
Using or operating a taxicab for any illegal or immoral purpose;
3. 
The conviction of any such person, holding a license hereunder, of a violation of any federal, state, or city ordinance involving moral turpitude; or the retaining of a driver who has been so convicted, as a driver of such taxicab, after being advised of such conviction;
4. 
Knowingly allow the careless or reckless operating of such taxicab;
5. 
Failure to obtain, furnish proof of, or maintain liability insurance coverage as required by this Chapter.

The license to operate a taxicab business shall expire on June 30th of every calendar year and the applicant shall reapply and pay the appropriate fees as set by the City Commission.
