[HISTORY: Adopted by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Wenonah 9-24-2009 by Ord. No. 2009-16. Amendments noted where applicable.]
All properties within the Borough of Wenonah having an automatic fire suppression system shall be equipped with a key box. Automatic shall mean electronically sends a signal to the Fire Department, Police Department or Central Dispatch Center requesting response of the Fire Department. Buildings of Use Groups R-3 and R-4 as described in the Uniform Construction Code shall be exempt from this requirement. Building owners exempt from this requirement may install a key box with the approval of the Fire Chief.
The key box shall be of a Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) type and approved by the Borough of Wenonah Fire Official. The key box shall be installed in a location approved by the Borough of Wenonah Fire Chief or his or her designate.
The key boxes shall contain keys to the following:
A. 
Locked points of egress, whether on the interior or exterior of such buildings.
B. 
Locked mechanical equipment rooms.
C. 
Locked electrical rooms.
D. 
Elevator controls.
E. 
Any fence or secured areas.
F. 
Other areas as directed by the Borough of Wenonah Fire Official.
All existing buildings shall comply within one year of the effective date of this chapter. All newly constructed buildings not yet occupied, or buildings currently under construction, shall comply immediately.
Any building owner violating this chapter after notice from the Borough of Wenonah Fire Official shall be subject to a penalty as set forth in the Uniform Fire Code.[1]
