Pursuant to authority granted in Code of Virginia 1950, § 17.1-279.1,
as amended, there is hereby imposed a fee of $5 to be taxed as costs
in each criminal or traffic case for the violation of any statute
or ordinance filed in the district and circuit courts for the County.
This fee shall be imposed on every summons written on or after July
7, 2021.
The Clerk of the Court in which the action is filed shall collect
these assessments and remit them to the Rappahannock County Treasurer.
The Treasurer shall hold the funds subject to appropriation by the
Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors to disburse to local law
enforcement agencies solely to fund software, hardware, and associated
equipment costs for the implementation and maintenance of an e-summons
system.
