There is hereby established in and for the Township of Harmony the position of Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator.
The Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator shall perform such duties as may be assigned by the Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator and shall assist in the planning, activating, coordinating and conduct of emergency management operations within the Township of Harmony. The duties shall involve the planning and enforcement of such orders as may be necessary to implement and carry out emergency management operations and to protect the health, safety and resources of the residents of the Township of Harmony. The Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator shall have all the powers and duties of the Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator during such times and for such periods as the Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator shall be absent or in case of vacancy in the office of Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator.
The Mayor shall appoint the Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator from among the residents of the Township of Harmony who shall serve for a term of three years. The initial term of office shall be for the remainder of the calendar year of such appointment and shall run for two consecutive calendar years thereafter. Each succeeding appointment shall commence on January 1 of the year in which the appointment is made and shall be for a three-year term of office thereafter. The Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator shall attend and successfully complete any approved educational courses or continuing educational courses in the field of emergency management as required for the office of Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator.
The Deputy Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator shall receive such compensation as shall be provided under an ordinance fixing the salaries of several officers and officials of the Township of Harmony, County of Warren, State of New Jersey, as the same shall be amended or supplemented from time to time.
