As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
DISTRIBUTOR
Any person who supplies any mechanical amusement device to another for use in his place of business, whether under lease or any similar arrangement.
MECHANICAL AMUSEMENT DEVICE
Any machine which may be operated by the public for entertainment or amusement, whether the machine is coin-operated or not, and whether or not it registers scores or tallies. Examples of mechanical amusement devices are pinball machines, bowling machines, mechanical grab machines, Skee-Ball machines, Pokerino machines, jukeboxes and similar devices. This enumeration is intended to be typical and shall not be construed as exclusive.
OPERATOR
Any person in whose place of business any mechanical amusement device is placed or kept for operation by the public.
No person shall distribute or operate a mechanical amusement device within the Township without having first obtained a license and paid the required license fee.
Applications are to be made upon forms provided by the Township Clerk.
A. 
Distributors shall be charged the following fees for a license. Licenses shall be issued for a period of one year from the first day of July of the year of issuance.
B. 
Operators, other than migrant labor camp owners or operators, shall be charged $25 for each machine so licensed. Licenses shall be issued for a period of one year from the first day of July of the year of issuance.
C. 
Migrant labor camp operators. A person operating a migrant labor camp as defined and licensed by N.J.S.A. 34:9A-1 et seq. shall be permitted to obtain a license for the operation, maintenance and use of such amusement devices or machines mentioned above, which license shall be issued to and in the name of the owner of the migrant labor camp where said equipment is to be installed and shall be issued for a period commencing May 1 and terminating October 31 of each year. The fee for the issuance of said license shall be $15 for each such location and for up to three machines so licensed. In no event shall more than three such amusement devices or machines be permitted to be located in any migrant labor camp.
Any person who shall use or permit to be used any of the machines or devices licensed hereunder for the purpose of gambling shall be deemed to be guilty of a violation of this chapter.
A. 
Suspension or revocation. Any license granted hereunder may be revoked or suspended by the Township Committee or the Municipal Judge after notice and due hearing, upon proof, for cause.
B. 
Other penalties. Any person (not including a corporation) violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable by a fine in any sum not exceeding $500 or, in default thereof, may be imprisoned in the county jail for a period not exceeding 90 days. Any corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, pay a fine of not more than $500, which may be recovered in an action of debt.
