The Fire Department of this township shall consist of Forked River Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and Bamber Lakes Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, and shall consist of not more than one hundred eighty (180) active members. All active members of said companies shall be approved by the Township Committee of this township. The duties of said volunteer fire companies and their officers and members shall be as provided by law, and moneys for the maintenance of such companies shall be provided for according to law.

All active members of this Department shall have reached the age of eighteen (18) years. Each prospective member shall make an application in writing, signed by the applicant, giving his or her name, age and length of residence in the township. With said application, there shall be an accompanying certificate made by a practicing physician of the State of New Jersey to the effect that, after a physical examination for that purpose, said physician certifies that the applicant is physically fit to perform the duties of a fire fighter.
No person shall be an active member of the companies who is not a citizen of the United States of America and who is not a resident of the Township of Lacey, in the County of Ocean.
Each voting member shall be a resident of the Township of Lacey aforesaid, and all officers of the said companies shall be citizens of the United States of America and residents of said township.
The companies shall choose from their list of active members the following officers: Chief, Assistant Chief, Captains and Engineers. All other officers shall be selected from the companies' voting membership according to their respective rules, regulations and bylaws.

The name of each person elected to active membership in said companies and proposed as a member of the Department shall be presented through the Secretaries of the said fire companies to the Township Committee of the Township of Lacey for confirmation. Prior to confirmation by the Township Committee, the Secretaries shall request a criminal record check of each prospective member through the Lacey Township Police Department.
An annual statement shall be furnished the Township Committee by the Secretaries of the said fire companies, listing the fire calls, drills, record of attendance at fires and fire drills and such other information as shall from time to time be requested by the Township Committee.

All funds appropriated for the Lacey Township Volunteer Fire Department by the governing body shall be accounted for annually to the governing body pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-34.

Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:14-95, there is hereby established, within the Lacey Township Fire Department, the Lacey Township Junior Firemen's Auxiliary.

Membership in the Lacey Township Junior Fireman's Auxiliary shall be limited to persons not less than 14 or more than 21 years of age. Written permission to join the Auxiliary is required from the parents of persons between the ages of 14 and 21.

In accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-98, the Township Committee hereby establishes and adopts rules and regulations to govern the activities of the Junior Firemen's Auxiliary. A copy of the rules and regulations shall be available for public inspection in the office of the Township Clerk during normal business hours.
