[Adopted 5-15-1980 as Ord. No. 9-80; amended in its entirety 8-27-1987 Ord. No. 35-87 (Ch. 25, Art. XLI, of the 1974 Code)]
There is hereby created the position of Public Works Supervisor for the Public Works Department of the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Public Works Supervisor shall be as follows:
A. 
Under direction, to supervise and work with Public Works employees engaged in the construction, operation, maintenance and repair of Public Works facilities, including but not limited to streets, parks, public buildings and public property. He may be required to operate, check, service and make minor repairs to trucks and other maintenance and construction equipment and do related work as required.
B. 
To have supervisory responsibility for control over work operations and subordinates and is accountable to his superiors for the quality and quantity of work done.
C. 
To plan weekly or monthly work schedules and the sequence of operations for subordinates; and to establish deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedules, methods and policies established by the Director/Superintendent of Public Works.
D. 
To select individual workers and assign that particular worker tasks to be performed; to explain work requirements, methods and procedures as required. Instruct subordinates on difficult work operations and reviews work in progress; and to determine equipment, material and maintenance required for specific projects and assure that material is ordered and delivered to work sites so as not to delay work.
To be appointed to the position of Public Works Supervisor, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Possess three years of experience in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sewer, water, sanitation or other public works facilities or other similar heavy construction or maintenance work.
B. 
Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
C. 
Possess wide knowledge of the procedures, materials and tools used in cleaning, maintaining and repairing public works equipment.
D. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
E. 
Possess good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would prevent the individual from performing the essential functions of the job.
The annual salary for the position of Public Works Supervisor shall be determined from time to time by the Township Committee and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
