[Adopted 9-25-1986 as part of Ord. No. 51-86 (Ch. 25, Art. LXV, of the 1974 Code)]
There is hereby created the position of Mechanic's Helper for the Public Works Department of the Township of Lacey.
The Mechanic's Helper shall, under direct supervision, assist and work closely with the Mechanic involved in performing varied mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and mechanized equipment. The Mechanic's Helper shall perform related work as required by his supervisors.
To be appointed to the position of Mechanic's Helper, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.
B. 
Possess a basic knowledge of the standard tools, materials, methods, practices and occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in mechanical repair work.
C. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in the English language sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
D. 
Possess good health and freedom from disabling physical and mental defects which would prevent the individual from performing the duties of Mechanic's Helper.
The annual salary for the position of Mechanic's Helper shall be determined from time to time by the Township Committee and shall be paid in accordance with the terms and provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
