There is hereby created the position of Tax Collector for the Township of Lacey pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-141.
The duties of the Tax Collector shall be prescribed by law. The Tax Collector shall perform such other duties which are related to his work as are prescribed by the Mayor and Township Committee.
The Tax Collector shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Township Committee, and shall serve a term of office of four years commencing on January 1 of the year of appointment and ending on December 31 of the fourth year, or until a successor shall be appointed and qualified. A vacancy in the office of Tax Collector, other than due to expiration of term, shall be filled by appointment for the unexpired term.
To be appointed to the position of Tax Collector for the Township of Lacey, an individual must possess a certificate of certification for the position of Tax Collector.
The salary for Tax Collector shall be determined from time to time by the Township Committee and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
