There is hereby created the office of Public
Defender in the Township of Lacey.
The Public Defender shall be appointed by the
Township Committee to serve for a term of one year commencing on January
1 in each calendar year. The Public Defender shall be licensed to
practice law in the State of New Jersey and shall be responsible for
the representation of indigent defendants brought before the Municipal
Court in the Township of Lacey on the basis of standards to be established
by the Judge of the Municipal Court and shall have such other duties
and responsibilities as may be provided by law.
