There is hereby created the position of Data Processing Technician for the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Data Processing Technician, under direction, shall include but not be limited to creating appropriate coding and suitable forms for transmitting information to a data processing center to ensure the desired printout or information storage. The Data Processing Technician shall also perform such other related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Data Processing Technician, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Possess two years' experience in monitoring, editing and/or verifying information used in an electronic data processing system. Satisfactory completion of a course of study in electronic data processing at a recognized college or university or accredited school of programming may be substituted for one year of work experience.
B. 
Possess knowledge of modern office methods and procedures.
C. 
Possess knowledge of digital computer equipment capabilities, electronic computer programming procedures and techniques and of the factors involved in the analysis, planning and design of data processing systems.
D. 
Possess the ability to analyze data and to utilize accepted data processing procedures, and to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and formation systems used by the agency, office or related units.
E. 
Possess the ability to reason logically and to draw sound conclusions in recommending courses of action.
F. 
Possess the ability to review and comprehend agency programs, processes and methods.
G. 
Possess the ability to work harmoniously with staff members and others, and to prepare clear, concise and accurate reports.
H. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
I.

If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
The salary for the Data Processing Technician shall be determined from time to time by the Township Committee and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
