There is hereby created the position of Property Clerk/Word Processing Operator for the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Property Clerk/Word Processing Operator, under direction, shall include, but not be limited to, collecting, recording, and safe storage of property and other valuables consigned or confiscated by the Police Department or other law enforcement agency; typing a variety of documents to prepare text content for automatic reproduction; and utilize a word processing system to reproduce, correct, adjust and print a variety of written material. The Property Clerk/Word Processing Operator shall also perform such other related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Property Clerk/Word Processing Operator, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
One year of experience in the receipt, recording, issuance and storage of supplies or equipment.
B. 
One year of general experience in the operation, technology and application of varied word processing equipment.
C. 
Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
D. 
Possess the knowledge of:
(1) 
Obtaining, recording, safeguarding and issuing of varied types of equipment, materials and supplies.
(2) 
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems.
(3) 
Office methods, practices and equipment.
(4) 
Performing difficult typing work.
(5) 
Operation, technology and application of word processing equipment.
(6) 
Ability to maintain records and files.
(7) 
Ability to operate and work effectively with a word processing system.
(8) 
Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.
(9) 
Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
(10) 
Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written directions.
E. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication;
F. 
Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
The salary for the Property Clerk/Word Processing Operator shall be determined from time to time by the governing body and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
