There is hereby created the position of Senior Assistant Assessor for the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Senior Assistant Assessor, under direction, shall include, but not be limited to, performing responsible and varied work in establishing a system of valuations for real property and/or takes the lead in a small assessing unit. The Senior Assistant Assessor shall also perform such other related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Senior Assistant Assessor, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Two years of experience in assessing or appraising residential, commercial and/or industrial real property.
B. 
Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
C. 
Possess the knowledge of:
(1) 
State and municipal laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applying to assessment for tax purposes.
(2) 
Methods of appraising property.
(3) 
Form and content of building plans.
(4) 
Ability to analyze and interpret applicable laws and regulations and apply them to specific cases.
(5) 
Ability to make accurate appraisals of real property.
(6) 
Ability to give testimony before county and state boards.
(7) 
Ability to work harmoniously with citizens and others.
(8) 
Ability to take and maintain a firm and correct stand when controversies arise.
(9) 
Ability to give assignments and instructions to subordinates.
(10) 
Ability to provide subordinates with needed advice and assistance when difficult and unusual problems arise.
(11) 
Ability to check subordinates work to see that proper procedures are followed, that reasonable standards of workmanship and output are maintained and that desired objectives are achieved.
(12) 
Ability to prepare clear, sound, accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations.
(13) 
Ability to supervise the establishment and maintenance of essential records and files.
(14) 
Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
D. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
E. 
Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
The salary for the Senior Assistant Assessor shall be determined from time to time by the governing body and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
