There is hereby created the position of Recreation Leader for the Township of Lacey.
Under the supervision of the Director of Recreation, the duties of the Recreation Leader shall include, but not be limited to, performing a variety of recreation activities, in an indoor and/or outdoor recreation center, and conducting activities with assigned groups. The Recreation Leader shall also perform such other related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Recreation Leader, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Possess knowledge of the problems involved in the leadership of several broad types of recreation activities.
B. 
Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
C. 
Possess the ability to lead several broad types of recreational activities.
D. 
Possess the ability to promote and organize recreation programs.
E. 
Possess the ability to give individualized instructions to participants.
F. 
Possess the ability to enforce safety precautions and give first aid.
G. 
Possess the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with participants, associates and the public.
H. 
Possess the ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
I. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
J. 
Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
The salary for the Recreation Leader shall be determined from time to time by the Township Committee and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
