There is hereby created the position of Road Repairer for the Township of Lacey.
The duties of the Road Repairer, under direction, shall include, but not be limited to, performing varied types of work involved in the repair, installation, and maintenance of roads, traffic signs, and traffic lines. The Road Repairer shall also perform such other related work as required.
To be appointed to the position of Road Repairer, an individual must meet the following requirements:
A. 
Possess knowledge of standard tools, materials, methods, practices, occupational hazards, and safety precautions involved in performing general maintenance and repair work.
B. 
Possess ability to analyze problems involving the operation of maintenance and construction equipment.
C. 
Possess ability to understand, remember, and carry out oral and written directions.
D. 
Possess ability to learn quickly from explanations and demonstrations.
E. 
Possess ability to operate equipment in a skilled, safe manner.
F. 
Possess ability to check, clean, service and make minor and emergency repairs.
G. 
Possess ability to keep records.
H. 
Possess ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
I. 
Possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
J. 
Possess the ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
K. 
Persons with mental or physical disabilities are eligible as long as they can perform the essential functions of the job after reasonable accommodation is made to their known limitations. If the accommodation cannot be made because ii would cause the employer undue hardship, such persons may not be eligible.
The salary for the Road Repairer shall be determined from time to time by the Township Committee and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Salary Ordinance of the Township of Lacey.[1]
