[Adopted as Ch. 40 of the 1972 Code]
As used in this article, the following terms
shall have the meanings indicated:
Includes but is not limited to boxes, crates, carts, bags,
cartons and packages.
The owners and occupants of properties adjoining
sidewalks commonly used by the public in the Town of Carmel shall
keep such sidewalk in repair and free and clear of snow, ice, dirt
and other obstructions.
In default of such repair or removal of obstructions
as required, the Town may effect such repair or removal at the expense
of such owners or occupants, and the charges therefor shall be a lien
on the premises until paid.

A violation of this article shall be a violation
punishable by a fine of not more than $250 or not more than 15 days
in jail, or both, for each offense.

This article shall be enforced by the Town of Carmel Highway Superintendent, who is hereby authorized to issue and serve appearance tickets with respect to a violation of this article, and by any official authorized to issue and serve appearance tickets under Chapter 3 of the Code of the Town of Carmel or the laws of the State of New York.
