Township of Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ Article II Residency Preference for New Employees

§ 57-2 Applicability; residency classes; determination of residency.

A. All Township employees shall meet the residency requirements as established under this article except for elected officials, professionals and their employees, and positions created by state law.

B. The Township hereby establishes residency preference classes for the hiring of employees, which classes are set forth below in order of their preference:

(1) Class I - Residents of the Counties of Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Essex, Hunterdon, Somerset, Union and Warren.

(2) Class II: residents of New Jersey.

(3) Class III: citizens of the United States.

C. All Township positions governed by this article shall be filled first from the pool of qualified Class I applicants before Class II applicants will be considered.

D. An applicant's residency shall be determined as of the date of his/her application for employment with the Township.

E. The submission by any employee of erroneous information concerning his/her true residency shall be cause for removal.
