Editor's Note: This local law was submitted to the People by reason of a mandatory referendum and received the affirmative vote of a majority of the qualified electors voting thereof.
The general village election shall be held on the third Friday in June in each year.
The intent of this chapter is to fix a date for the annual general village election different from the date set forth therefor in § 15-104 of the Election Law of the State of New York.
The following proposition shall be submitted to the electors of the Village of Southampton in the 1987 general village election:
Proposition No. 1. Shall the general village election be held on the third Friday in June in each year, commencing June of 1988?
This chapter shall be effective for the general village election to be held in 1988 only if the electors of the Village of Southampton, at the 1987 general village election shall have approved a proposition to change the present date of election, and in no event shall it be effective until filed in the office of the Secretary of State.
