[Adopted 7-22-1981 by L.L No. 5-1981]
The term of office of the Town Clerk shall be
four years.
This article shall supersede § 24
of the Town Law, insofar as it is inconsistent with such section.
A proposition for the approval of this article
shall be submitted to the electors of the Town of Southold at the
general election to be held in November 1981, and this article shall
become operative only if approved by the affirmative vote of a majority
of the qualified electors voting upon such proposition.[1]

Editor's Note: This article was approved by
a majority of the voters at the general election held 11-3-1981.
If this article is approved by the affirmative
vote of a majority of the qualified electors of the Town voting thereon
at said general election, this article shall become and be effective
immediately.
