Smoking will be prohibited in all indoor places of employment of town
employees under the jurisdiction and control of the Town of Van Buren, which
includes all town buildings, highway buildings, parks and grounds buildings,
including the lodge.
A copy of this article will be posted upon the town bulletin board and
in each separate building. Employees found smoking inside any town building
will be considered in violation of this policy and may be subject to penalty.
The first offense will be a three-day suspension without pay; and the second
offense will be a ten-day suspension without pay. Disciplinary action for
the third offense will be taken by the Town Supervisor leading up to termination.
This chapter will be included in the employee handbook and all contracts
with the Town of Van Buren.
