[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of New Hyde Park 1-9-1997. Amendments noted where applicable.]
In the effect to create an environment that will facilitate employee recovery from injury or illness and to improve operational efficiency the village has implemented a transitional work program.
Every employee is expected to cooperate with his/her physician and the village in effecting a safe and expeditious return to his/her regular job by participating in the transitional work program.
This program, as outlined below, is for a specified period during an employee's recovery from illness or injury until he/she can perform his/her regular job.
A.
All transitional jobs will be coordinated through the treating physician, the employee's immediate supervisor and the Village Administration, to ensure a safe and efficient return to work.
B.
It shall be wholly at the discretion of the immediate supervisor to determine if the employee is able to perform the transitional job assigned to him/her and to ensure that the employee meets or exceeds the minimal standards set forth for that job.
The following list contains samples of the type of jobs in each department that may be available at different times for transitional duty. A detailed job description will be provided to the treating physician at the appropriate time, if requested. If there are any questions concerning this program, they may be addressed to the immediate supervisor.
