[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Fort Edward 6-11-1984 by L.L. No. 1-1984. Amendments noted where applicable.]
A. 
Any person or persons shall not sell goods, wares, merchandise or any other article whatsoever except milk, meat, farm produce, ice, foodstuffs and newspapers in the Town of Fort Edward by hawking or peddling or at an auction without first obtaining a license to do so.
B. 
Licenses for such purposes will be granted upon application therefor to the Town Clerk and upon payment of a fee in the amount adopted by the Town Board pursuant to Town Code §50-1 and listed on the Fee Schedule.[1]

C. 
Such license will be good for a period of one (1) year from the date of issuance.
Any person selling goods, wares, merchandise or any other articles whatsoever except milk, meat, farm produce, ice, foodstuffs and newspapers from a cart, wagon, trailer or other vehicle shall not cause or permit such cart, wagon, trailer or other vehicle to remain in one (1) place on any public street or lane or in any public place for a period longer than twenty (20) minutes.
The advertising of any performance, business or public transaction or the sale of goods, wares or merchandise by crying the same or by ringing of a bell, the beating of gongs or by any other loud or unseemly noise in the streets or public places of the town is hereby prohibited.

A licensed vendor, hawker, peddler or solicitor shall not hawk, peddle, vend or solicit orders for goods, wares or merchandise on private property without having obtained the prior written consent of the owner(s) thereof and without having presented such written consent to the Town Clerk.

The violation of any of the provisions of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine of not more than two hundred fifty dollars ($250.) or imprisonment for not more than fifteen (15) days, or both.
