Editor's Note: The original Environmental Conservation Commission went dormant subsequent to its appointment 9-13-1972. The Commission was reformed and new members appointed by Town Board resolution 11-18-2003.
The Town Board of the Town of Marbletown hereby creates a commission which shall be known as the "Marbletown Environmental Conservation Commission," hereinafter called the "Commission."
The Commission shall consist of eight members, of which eight shall be appointed by the Town Board and who shall serve at the pleasure of the Town Board.
The Town Board shall designate a member of the Commission to act as Chairman thereof. At the first meeting of the Commission its members shall elect from among themselves a Recording Secretary and a Treasurer. The Commission shall adopt rules and procedures for its meetings.[2] It shall keep accurate records of its meetings, activities, income and disbursements and shall file an annual report as provided in § 20-5 of this chapter.

The Commission shall have all of the powers and duties enumerated in Article 12-F of the General Municipal Law of the State of New York.[1]

Editor's Note: Former Section 5, granting the Commission the authority to accept gifts, which immediately followed this section, was deleted at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I).
The Commission shall submit a summary report to the Town Board no later than December 31 of each year, concerning the activities, work, receipts and disbursements of the Commission. It shall submit a final report to the Town Board no later than the first day of April of the following year, and from time to time shall submit such reports and recommendations as may be necessary to fulfill the purposes of this chapter.

The members of the Commission shall receive no compensation for their services as members thereof but may expend funds for their reasonable and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties within the appropriations made available therefor by the Town Board and other funds received.
